summer classes! (Post 1)

I think that have classes in summer is the worst thing since I'm in college. The heat is really oppressive and does not allow us pay attention to anything in classes. Besides, Christmas and New Year weren't relaxing celebrations at all, because few days after those dates I had a lot of exams for college!

Among the subjects that I have this semester, I like theory II, statistical III and qualitative techniques I (Because I think it will be very useful in future), and I do not like to much Epistemology and Economics II (and also English :D).

Anyway, I hope to learn at least the basics during this semester that will be very short. But I guess these are the costs that we should assume by have decided to mobilize.

Poll reveals Britons' secret fears and hopes for 2012

The report “Hopes and Fears” develop several subjects like class system and attitudes toward Scottish independence, for example.

In relation to attitudes, the poll – carried out for British Future, a new independent thinktank, and the Observer – shows that there are agreement that immigration has been good for domestic cuisine, entrepreneurship, film, music, fashion and design. However, the survey also reveals deep economic anxiety, many respondents believe that immigration has had a negative impact on the supply of homes, jobs, schools or hospitals, also, the increase in the perception of crime is associated with increased influx of immigrants.

There is also a rejection of segregation, with 51% of people believing the government should encourage parents to put their children in ethnically diverse schools.

The report concludes that "we recognise benefits and pressures from immigration", adding: "It won't be enough to say that it has been great for food and football if people remain so concerned that impacts on jobs and housing aren't addressed."
Therefore, the British people accept the cultural changes, but are worry about the impacts that may cause.

Other results of the survey are:

- Womens are most optimist about the nation than men.
- Housing has been the area most affected by immigration
- Asian Britons are the most optimistic about Britain in 2012
