Merry Christmas!

For me Christmas is the best time of year, I love being able to meet with all my family for dinner together and, obviously, also to give and receive gifts.

Personally, I love giving gifts, though I must admit that I also stressed enough when I can’t think what to give to some people. As I get presents, of course I like! Who doesn’t?

One of the main problems about giving gifts is the concern about whether the gift will like or not to the other person and also the price to spend on it, if is very little could be offended, if is too much could be bad for him if his gift does not of the same price and other problems like that. I always try to spend nearly the same on the gifts that i give, althought if there is someone who i love more, I can spend a little more. :P

I hate to be buying last minute gifts, because I start getting nervous and it's hard to choose an appropriate gift for each person, then I'd rather buy them in advance to be quiet when it's Christmas. Also, as I said before, there are times when it’s really difficult to decide what gifts to buy, that because one knows the things they like, but those are things that they already have, then you have to think hard to find something they don't have, whether they like it and it's useful.

In general I do not get many Christmas gifts, just by my family, but these are always very dedicated and looking to be useful, so although sometimes not of my total satisfaction, i get them with appreciation and gratitude.

I think in terms of ideas related to the environment I'm very green, but in terms of actions (which is what matters) I have not worked much with the environment.

From what I've seen, the main source of learning about respect for the environment is the family, because that is where take place the first and main practices about care of the environment. What does not happen at school, where in general has not been given much importance to this issue, neither in government policy, because they have imported more the results without worrying about the means to reach them (environmental damage).

Personally, when I have at hand the possibility of recycling I do, but these moments are few, because in our society there is no culture of recycling. Although I collaborate with other practices, such as cycling or try to transport me walking instead of polluting vehicles. As for the environmental organizations I am aware of its existence and support some of its causes, but not actively participate, mainly because there are some topics that I think are more dogmatic than reflective and do not consider all points of view.

I have done little to reduce my carbon footprint, but among them the use of dumpsters for recycling when I found them (not often) and avoid the use of polluting fuels for heating. I think we need more massification of the environmental practices and ideas in Santiago, and also install more trash cans for recycling paper, cans, glass and other kinds of garbage.

Around the world

Personally I love to travel, mainly because I feel a great pleasure in knowing new places. For this reason, the type of travel that I prefer are those to exotic places, through guided tours and also knowing for myself, but unfortunately I could not do much of any of these, because of my studies and lack of money. And I also love seeing places with great historical and cultural tradition, because it's interesting and entertaining relive the major events that occurred there.

In general I would like to know the whole country, both north and south of Chile. I also would like to do adventure tourism activities in a lot of places, expeditions in the Atacama Desert and climbing in the Andes, for example. Outside our country, I would like to travel around Latin America and Europe, especially countries like Spain, Italy, France, Germany and England.

I think the best trip I remember was a year ago when I and my family went to visit much of the southern of Chile, mainly the territories between Concepción and Chiloe. Although I think this could change with the next trip that will take place this summer with my family to northern of Chile, where we intend to go as far as possible from La Serena to the north, even to Tacna (Peru), so that could be the first time I leave Chile, which has me very excited!

Music is my aeroplane

As the song of the Red Hot Chili Peppers says "Music is my aeroplane", because it's like a journey where you can put together a series of different emotions; relaxation, joy, sadness, etc..

The music that I like is the Rock, but not everyone, I like songs that have some content and tell stories, the letters must be entertaining and interesting. Therefore, the music makes me feel relaxed and thoughtful at once. 

Right now, I think my favorite band are "Fake Aces" (Ases Falsos), I like his songs, the rhythms are varied, so it is not easy to classify, and his letters are always entertaining and tell different stories ranging from the simplest things to deeper issues. In addition, his interpreter Cristobal Briceño is fun and eccentric, makes every show truly unique.
I met this group by a friend who liked him, but not really because she presented to me, but because I read his old name (Fother Muckers) on his Facebook page and i found it funny. Then, I looked for his music to know them better and I liked. Anyway I see them frequently and I have a good time listening his music.

a door to another world

I love this topic, because reading books is one of my favorite hobbies. I like it because it’s fun and exciting to enter the world that they propose.

My entry at the world of books was given for books that we read for school, with books like “Brave New World” and “The Stranger”. Later, I started reading on my own, at first easy books as "Harry Potter ", then I interested in the genre of fantasy literature with books like "the Lord of the rings", and Latin American literature like "the truce ".

Those are novels, however I also like reading poetry, in fact, my favorite book is of poetry: "Scarecrow" (Oliverio Girondo). And I think my favorite author it’s Isaac Asimov, who writes science fiction novels (which is my favorite literary genre)

Anyway, no matter what type or how long they are, it is important to read and enjoy them.

A bit of Italy

The country I would like to go is Italy, and specifically the city of Rome.

I would like to go this country because it has a rich historical tradition with places of great international interest.

About this country I know some of the best touristic places, like the Roman Coliseum, the Arch of Constantine, the Roman Forum, the appian way and the catacombs, the Pantheon and the Vatican, just for name a few.

In this country I would like to take guided tours in a lot of places, especially those with ancient and unique architecture, museums and archaeological sites. Also I would like to improve the little Italian that I know talking with some citizens.

I think I would like to work for a while in this country, because it would be interesting to do some investigative work about the historical tradition of the city of Rome. I also think it would be fun to live for a while there, in order to know all the country

summer classes! (Post 1)

I think that have classes in summer is the worst thing since I'm in college. The heat is really oppressive and does not allow us pay attention to anything in classes. Besides, Christmas and New Year weren't relaxing celebrations at all, because few days after those dates I had a lot of exams for college!

Among the subjects that I have this semester, I like theory II, statistical III and qualitative techniques I (Because I think it will be very useful in future), and I do not like to much Epistemology and Economics II (and also English :D). 

 
Anyway, I hope to learn at least the basics during this semester that will be very short. But I guess these are the costs that we should assume by have decided to mobilize.
